Additional Information

Hello!

We are currently making a e-petition.
It's really exciting because once we have over ten thousand signs, it could be discussed in the House of Commons!

This is just some additional information:

Animal Testing should be against the law because no animal should have to be harmed for us. We want to raise awareness as much as possible, we want the government to introduce a law that will ban testing on animals avoiding cruelty and death. The alternatives to animal testing are much easier than testing on animals. Scientists have developed test methods to predict how a chemical may harm cells, tissues and organs. These technologies can detect effects that animal tests can miss device could test more chemicals in a day than in the last 30 years!

Thank you!

Bye!

Facts That could Help

Hello!

This blog post is about facts and things that could help stop animal testing. Most people don't even realise that products that they use test on animals. Here is a list of facts that you may or may not already know about AT:

  • Not only rats, rabbits, guinea pigs and mice are tested on. I'm sorry if you've got either a reptile, bird or amphibian. They are tested on as well, just not as much.
  • Sometimes, animals are tested on every single day, for 2 years! Just to make a shampoo or perfume etc...
  • Over 100 million animals are burned, killed, poisoned or abused every year in the US.
  • After treatment, people don't give pain relief or anything to the abused animal, they either kill it, or leave it to die.
  • Acids are sometimes used during experiments. (If you've done acids in science, you know what I mean, they're deadly!)
Just remember, STOP Animal Testing and raise awareness!

Cruelty Towards Animals

Hello!

Iv'e finally got wi-fi and signal!
At the moment we're in a remote place and the weather has been quite bad so getting signal hasn't been easy!

Also, thank you so much for almost 800 views!

I've been doing some research, it's been quite interesting, I thought I would write a blog post while I've got signal!

How many animals are used?

In the UK, around four million animals are used in laboratory experiments each year. Hundreds of thousands more animals are bred and killed so bits of their bodies can be used in research. In addition, millions of ‘surplus’ animals are bred but never used – they are just disposed of and their deaths are not even recorded.

Which animals are used?

Mostly mice and rats because they are small, cheap and easy to breed, but guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, dogs, monkeys, birds, reptiles, pigs, sheep, cattle, chickens, horses and fish are also routinely used. Tests that use animals to assess the safety of cosmetics and personal care products—such as lipstick, mascara, shampoo, and cologne—are still extremely common in the United States. Pain relief is rarely provided and the animals used are always killed at the end of each test.
Which Products are used?
Scientists and researchers have devised endless ways of abusing animals in experiments. They use them to test weedkillers and pesticides as well as new ingredients for cleaning fluids, paints, food, drinks and even pet food.

Barry M

Hello!

In the future, we are going to be posting blog posts about different companies that are well priced, cruelty free (obviously), and that have good products. On the Barry M website, it officially says that they don't test on animals. Before we started this blog, we shopped at lots of brands including Barry M. We loved this even before we discovered animal testing and we were incredibly shocked at the amount of companies that test on animals. We then researched ones that don't test. Barry M don't! Yey! (What a relief!) Here's a list of our Top 3 products:

  • Genie lipstick (Duh!)
  • Speedy Quick dry nail paint
  • Chisel Cheeks contour kit
Check out this brand (if you already haven't!)

Why?

Hello!

We're going to be asking all of the major brands one simple question. Why do it? Why test on animals? Surely, some of you out there will understand, wont you? If humans make a product, then they should test on themselves, or find out a better way, shouldn't they? E-mailing companies might help a bit, but if every single one of you at home helped out, and e-mailed more and more to the big brands, it might just be enough. Two of us, already have raised awareness, but they'd listen to a bigger crowd, we're sure. Help out, take part and raise awareness!

STOP Animal Testing!

Update

Hello!

This is just a quick update! We have just got a email from nivea:

"Animal testing has been completely banned for all cosmetic products in the EU since 2004, and for all the ingredients of these products, since 2013. Beiersdorf, of course, is in compliance with this law and has long done without animal testing whenever it was possible. We are convinced that animal testing is not required to prove the safety and effectiveness of our products."

In this blog, we just want to say thank you for not only the 600 views, but for all of the people out there who actually read our blog and take in our information. At the start of this blog, we weren't even aiming to get this many views but it really looks like its been a hit! We hope that it helps you find products and gives you ideas of trying to stop animal testing. We have probably gone on about saying thank you lots in other blogs, but it really, really, really means a lot to us. Thank you!!!!!!!
